I rarely write words, but years ago, I once had two very important people in my life pass away, very close in time proximity. I was just getting over the one, when I found out about the other. And then there was another friend passing in the same 6 months for me. I found power in meditating on the night sky, to find comfort. I wrote this song about them.
It's about looking up into the night sky, focusing on a star, and trying to communicate with departed loved ones, hoping that their spirit is out there somewhere, to connect with for a message of love.
I wrote the instrumental piece, at the time of their passing, and always knew in my heart that it was about them, It took me 5 years to finally write words to it. And then another few years to get to the courage to actually sing it and make it a real song.
At the time I went to sing it, I had not sang anything in a long time, so my voice was really out of shape for pitch and power, but I listened to this first take and just felt there was an honesty in the vocals, and that I didn't want to try to polish it any further. I am sure a better singer could really make this song shine to the stars that it's meant to speak to, for everyone, personally. XOXO
